Clarion Call

In the crumbling world of music-media-massification, music which never really died away is coming up again like spring grass through cracked pavement.

Cajun, zydeco, klezmer, boogaloo, dancey jazz, Gaelic, Piedmont blues, new "classical"... this is truly a musical planet!

It's really cool when you just stumble across good music. I was a little kid in the early sixties and Cannon Ball Adderly was a jazz musician who's music was not played on WOWO or the other radio stations I listened to as I was growing up. And I d…

Larry Stefl

Larry,   If the player your music was on was a record I would have worn out the record grooves already. In the songs Rutile, Fire Spirit and Ayana, I hear shades of West Montgomery and Freddie Hubbar…

Arranging tools

Hey, I'm doing some arrangements of standards, and to help me I wrote a list of tools to make them try to add a touch of originality. Can anyone think of any more?   1) Modulation (key change)   2) B…

How It Started...

This network was born of an effort to publicize a very moving, historically important, and almost forgotten music in Brazil...samba chula.

And it was the realization that this, an interlinked tapestry of musicians, music-related professionals and businesses, and listeners, could help turn up hidden treasures all over the world, as well as present new audiences to perhaps even very well-known musicians, which led to the Euterpedia's inception. I hope that given a little time the network will live up to its name!
